    "Room Management Guide"

    This guide attempts to consolidate and simplify some of the information contained in our website. It is not comprehensive. The website is in transition at the moment and some areas may be out of date. Stick to the "Staff Related Links" for now, and you'll be fine.

    Room Management Guide

    Before you arrive
    Clear your cache and get ready for fun. Start by doing a search in your chat rooms tab for PingPanther. This will bring up all of the Breathless Clubs. (Notice that you have the ability to mark the room as a "favorite." Please do so.)
    Look to see which ones have the least occupants.

  • NOTE from Julie - For the time being, we are concentrating only on BA-PG, but you should still practice checking on the status of the rooms before you enter the club.

    Open your MSN or Yahoo (or both) and look to see if others staffers are on line. Remember that they are interested in the same thing you are; how to make IMVU fun and profitable. Work together & think outside of the box.

    Before you begin, open the room announcements web page from the link on the right hand side of this page. Keep that page handy. Announcements change periodically so watch for updates. Copy and paste announcements to the guests in your room 3 to 5 times an hour. More so when full.

    Be sure you are ready to copy and paste things like how to clear their cache, how to use the lift, how to play music and how to find our other clubs.

    These tools are built to simplify life at Breathless so use them!

    When you arrive
    Call the lift to the main club room. When everyone leaves the club the lift will return to a place that is hidden. The rooms upstairs at BA-PG are a very important feature. An attraction! Make sure that the lift is highly visible as much as possible.

    Begin by checking your IMVU accounts for invitations and messages. These are the first people you should invite to the room. Think this through just a little. Try to invite those that are most likely to help you invite others and keep everyone entertained. Choosing who to invite can greatly reduce your workload.

    Assume the two management spots that are on the steps just before you start populating the room. These spots are important. From this location you can see everyone and everyone can see you. Be out there and be noticed. Fill the room from this position and then feel free to mingle with the guests once a solid party has been established.

    Call your team together
    While it is possible to fill and manage a room by yourself, it is much easier and a lot more fun if you enlist some help. You will learn our method for working together with other BA staff members as a team to populate a room and keep the party going. It's fast and it's fun.

    You should familiarize yourself with the senior BA staff members. They will be happy to help you if they are not too busy doing other things, and they know lots of tips and tricks for filling a room and entertaining guests. Listen and learn from them if you are lucky enough to have one around.

    Please focus on keeping the rooms full for as long as possible until they begin self populating. Also, we are in need of users from Asia & Australia. Make a note of any who might be possible candidates for a staff position..

    Clearing space for guests
    When a room becomes full, having 9 or 10 occupants, it will begin to appear high in the IMVU "Chat Rooms" tab. Other guests will follow the crowd and begin arriving on their own. Why? Because you are now easy to find. You are at the top of the search engine. This is how your room becomes self sustaining.

    As a rule, BA staffers tend to be an outgoing, fun, friendly bunch. We enjoy each other's company and often like to party together. Trouble is, sometimes that could mean that there are 5 staffers in a room and only a couple of actual guests. If this situation comes up, and the room is filled to capacity, it may be necessary for some staff to move to another BA room for awhile. Of course at least one always needs to stay put.

    After the room is busy
    Make announcements three to five times an hour.

    Situational Example
    When looking in the "Chat Rooms" tab of the 3-D IMVU window you see...

    PG/R/X = 10/2/7

    Pull all staff out at BA-PG and BA-X leaving one STAFFER IN EACH, send the other staffers to BA-R

    Precede and/or follow this with a guest announcement about the existence of the other clubs. Try to spread our guests out among all of the Breathless clubs.
